There are many ways that developers and other tech practitioners can learn technical concepts and improve their skills. Online conferences, videos, and articles abound that allow for asynchronous learning of a variety of content. The availability of online content isn’t new, but the quantity of content has exploded in response to the pandemic.
Be prepared for a lively discussion of the following questions:
  1. What online content is the most effective for learning?
  2. What is your favorite type of online content? Least favorite?
  3. How do you think online content can be improved?
  4. What are your thoughts on paid vs free content?
  5. How does one (especially a junior developer) best evaluate existing content?
As we slowly recover and emerge from our homes, many regular speakers and developer advocates hope to return to the live conference format. But one could argue that the pandemic has increased the opportunities for those who have historically been unable to engage in live conferences due to family obligations, the hefty time commitment away from work, or travel budget constraints. It would be nice to keep online opportunities available, but how do we ensure quality moving forward?

Join Melissa McKay in an informal discussion for both teachers and learners — we are all BOTH!
